Its finally here!!
This year the OLA is offering a chance for kids to try lacrosse sixes as it is soon to make its appearance at the Olympics. It will be offered for the following age groups:
U9 (2018,2017,2016)
U11 (2015, 2014)
U13 (2013,2012)
The season will officially start on September 15 and end on October 13. Provincials will be held on the thanksgiving weekend.
Teams are responsible for booking their own games and must play 4 games in order to qualify for provincials. Teams will consist of a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 players, 1 of which will be a goalie.
Lacrosse sixes is a fun, fast paced, *ZERO HITTING*, version of lacrosse that combines both elements of field and box. Equipment required is a helmet, lacrosse stick, chest protection, and gloves. Running shoes are allowed but cleats are recommended for playing on grass.
Cost of sixes this year will be $100 but can be expected to increase in following years when OLA fees increase.
Practices will be TBD (depending on field availability), but will be aiming for 1 practice a week running 1.5 hours long in ayton. (More field time possible at additional cost)
